A Little about Me...
Georgia S. Thompson is an advocate for high-quality learning experiences for all children, recognizing it begins with a firm foundation in the early years. Georgia has been in the field of Early Care and Education (ECE) for nearly 20 years, beginning as a preschool teacher and advancing to roles in Pre-K-3 education, professional development, quality improvement, higher education, and project management in ECE.
Georgia is an adjunct professor in ECE, as well an experienced trainer and facilitator at the state and national levels. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Sciences, having majored in Child Development at Florida State University, and holds a master’s degree in Human Services from Nova Southeastern University.
Georgia is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and has volunteered her time with several other organizations in service of children and families. Georgia has served on local, state, and national advisory boards, committees, and councils. In honor of her work and service, Georgia was recognized in 2015 by Legacy Magazine as one of South Florida’s 40 Under 40 Black Leaders of Today and Tomorrow. In 2019, Georgia was also recognized by her alma mater, Florida State University, with a Notable Nole Young Alumni Award.
Georgia was born in Kingston, Jamaica and grew up in Miami Gardens, Florida where her family migrated in the late 1980s. Currently, Georgia resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and works as a senior program and policy analyst for a national children's health system.
